Black screen after loading drivers during tumbleweed installation

Hi,

I tried to do a fresh install of tumbleweed from an usb stick, but after the driver loading phase I get a black screen with a frozen cursor in the upper left corner.

  • I downloaded the network x86_64 image and transfered it to the stick with impression.
  • I also downloaded the full x86_64 image and transfered it to the stick with impression.
  • sha sum is correct
  • booting from the stick and verifying installation media says it is ok

The notebook is an ideapad 5i pro (core i7/iris/nvidia). The notebook works with an older but updated installation of tumbleweed just fine. It boots without quirky options on the grub linux commandline.

What could I try next?

Add nomodeset to the boot command line, install, add Nvidia drivers, delete nomodesetfrom the boot command line, reboot.
