Black screen after first boot, second boot works. Cannot login to CLI

Hello all,

I have a few strange login-related issues that have popped up recently:

  1. On my first computer boot, I boot to a black screen. TTY2 shows a mouse pointer only. I have the computer set to auto login to KDE (with SDDM). I checked my xorg log and I don’t see any errors, but I think it’s more of a KDE/SDDM issue because i have a mouse pointer. If I ctrl-alt-del and reboot, it correctly auto logs in on the second attempt.

  2. During this, I switch to TTY3 and try to login with my user, but it says my password is incorrect. My user password is the same as my root password, and was setup during install that way. I go to YaST > User and Group Management and set my password again, but I am still unable to login with that username/password combo
