black screen after bios password

I installed opensuse 11.1 alongside win xp. All was working until I took out the dvd. Now all I get is a black screen with “password correct” and a flashing curser. I’ve tried booting with and without the dvd in still the same. O dear, O dear what can I do?

Was the installation 100% okay?

Did u reach upto account setups and password enteries during installation?

I think u didnt complete the installation?

Is grub showing?

The install as completed.
password was logged.
flashing curser, no “grub” word.

So let’s get this straight.

You turn on your computer and it gives you an option between openSUSE 11.1, openSUSE 11.1 failsafe, and windows xp. You choose openSUSE 11.1 and it loads up but then ends up in a console, or a black screen that asks for username and password. You type in your username and password and then it says “Have fun…”?

Or something else?

TeHe.
No, I switch on my dell computer. My bios asks me for a password. I put in password, bios says password correct and puts on a flashing curser. It goes no further.

If the other system sees the drive can you get the manufacturers test
software and give it a full check/scan?

Just in case it is the drive failing, it will save you the trouble of re-
installing only to have it fail again if it is going bad.
