bios invisible over TV: grub2-efi as fix?

Hello
is it safe to replace grub2 with grub2-efi on my EFI (not Uefi) fusion e-350 system with Tumbleweed-Installation?
Grub2 runs fine so far, except, that it does not display the bios messages or the bios itself when connectet to my yamahy-receiver and then to the TV. When I connect it directly to the TV everything is fineā€¦ so I wanted to try if grub2-efi could fix this, but only when it is 99,5% safe

p.s. i always wondered why it works with grub2 even if it is a efi bios and there is NO option to change bios-mode to legacy / non-efi or something like thisā€¦

thx, t

Hi
Because you BIOS doesnā€™t know how to go through that intermediary
device on power on, it may take time for the device to recognize your
computer booting, with that delay the bios screen has been and gone.

When you first power up the system, press the BIOS key to enter the
setupā€¦eg del, F2 etc and wait, does it get to the BIOS then via the
device?

Sure your not running grub2-efi already? Check via YaST bootloader.

I can go to bios via F2 and can navigate by guessing ^^ it is not visibleā€¦ same with the boot-device-dialogue that is accessable via F8 - not visible but usable if you know the drive-order by heart.

what i forgot to say - the red AMI-Bios Graphic is visible in each case (with or without TV). But with TV the RAM and ATA information that usually come below the logo are not visible as the BIOS itselfā€¦

double checked that. yast bootloader says grub2 only - grub2-efi is selectable however. the package must have been installed automatically via the auto-selections which yast does sometimesā€¦
so I only would have to switch to grub2-efi in the yast bootloader menue - how safe is that, since grub2 is still called experimental here and thereā€¦?

Hi
So you have a /boot/efi/EFI directory with files? I think there are
some articles on the forum on switching over.

There are no manufacturer BIOS updates for the issue of not seing the
info displayed?

It sounds like the connection is HDMI. I believe that some graphics cards do not display the bios over HDMI.

yes it is hdmi.
and yes the bios is updatedā€¦

so it sounds that i still will have to switch cables when i want to acess the biosā€¦ unfortunate, but manageable.

thanks for your help and hints.
