i am having a problem loading linux 2.6.18.2-34defaulti686 opensuse 10.5(i586) on a hp multimedia pc it has a tv tuner and fm radio built into the viedo card that it will not reconize when it boots i only get a gray screen

1 helpful hint … you posted billy3330 as your question, not to rain on your parade but this is not descriptive of your problem. Or are you saying you a problem? (joke intended).

Those who can help you usually try to choose topics to view by the nature of the problem that matches their level of expertise. OK

from your post, I gather you are trying to install an i686 version or an i586 version of openSUSE onto your HP multimedia machine. Do you have only one video card? If only 1 card and it is multifunction, does the install work but boot fail, or is it that the install fails too?

Point is helpers here need more info about your exact hardware and what stage you are having trouble with. Personally, I would try to repost with correct descriptive header and more detailed info so a knowledgable helper can assist.

no such thing as openSUSE 10.5, so that needs to be corrected…

if “10.5” typo for “10.3” then, that went unsupported two days ago,

Please clarify what version of openSUSE you are trying to install, you open by referring to 10.5, - FYI- there never was any 10.5
Nearest to that is 10.3 and support is just ending on that.

Try 11.1 or wait for 11.2 to be released. Graphics card is probably not supported on 10.3

BTW:

In fact the kernel version indicates 10.2.

yes it is 10.2 suse on a hp multimedia pc with a built in video card that has a tv tuner and a radio on the mother board it also had a built in sound card but i am using a diamond xstream card now
below is a list from win xp sysinfo of computer

Well, as has been already mentioned a couple of times, 10.3 (and by association 10.2) are no longer supported versions of openSUSE. While there may be a few users on these forums that might try to help you get everything working, you would be better off using a more recent version that is also being used by the majority of community members.

If I were you, I would try loading a more recent version (11.1 or 11.2) and see how that works on your system. Also, we’ll need more information about what works/doesn’t work on the operating system. Hardware information is helpful (and thank you for providing it), but without any indication about what is/isn’t working, and any associated error messages, we can’t offer any more help than some wild guesses.

Agreed +1
Get yourself openSUSE 11.1
