Best way to use secure remote desktop

I’m not sure if this belongs here or the Apps forum, but I’m going to need to remote desktop to a XP box from my laptop when I travel. At home I just use KRDC on my laptop and Real VNCServer on the XP box.

Is this a secure (encrypted) connection? If not can anyone suggest a secure way of doing this.

stunnel could help you out here if you want a secure connection with minimum fuss.

Stunnel.org will help you out.

Take a look at NoMachine NX, it is fast and easy to use.

Mmm I tempted to say two things one surely this is one for the windows forums and next why should I google but as I did…

Virtual Network Computing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia so just going on the wiki which will need further investigating unless that is commercial it highly likely not to be as secure as it could be. So you could as suggested use ssh tunneling or one of the other protocols that do use ssh.

NX use SSH connection.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t think there was a windows nx server.

He wants to remote into a windows box so nx isn’t really applicable

RDP sessions are encrypted and RSA key exchange is used with both client and server randomly establishing the RC4 keys before the client connects.

Further, I find the RDP from openSUSE client to a windows xp server to be very satisfactory.

Great I just tried this and it seems to work well. It’s a lot faster than my previous solution of VNCserver and KRDC. According to the wiki they both support encryption (although I’m not sure to what level as it’s not specified) but it’s better than what I had.

I looked at the SSH tunnel method but it looked to complicated.

And yes, NX has is not for windows.
