Best practise for user login

Hi,

Just setting up our first openSuse for a small school.
The server is the first server in the school also.
So my question is;

  • How should I do the user management part?
  • LDAP ?

Workstation about 6 teacherstations (WIN XP) and 6 pupilstations (Linux)

Want to be able to restrict everything thru login - no gusetusers
allowed.

The server is acting as firewall also. The teachers want to have access
to the server from home also.

Any advise?

Linux Newbe - very new !
SLES10sp1 + OES2 + GW 7.x

These are available some in English and German. The first link is more for server side and has the security info you desire, I’m sure. Since SELinux isn’t here until 11.1, you’ll have to wait for that. Even then there is no policy with the package. But, the wiki articles will answer you questions, surely.

Some others will likely also have a reply for you, perhaps more specific.

(I see there is no spell check using Debian/Epihany - must be flash. Nuisance.)
