Best Partition structure for openSUSE

i want to install openSUSE 12.1 alone on my hp laptop 24 days later.
what is best partition structure for it? my laptop has a 250 GB harddrive.

Personally I would have 2 installations on that HD

This is how I would do it

swap 2GB
extended (uses all the free space)
ext4 for root install 1. 20GB
ext4 for /home 1. 100GB
ext4 for root 2. 20GB
ext for /home 2. 100GB> (all the remaining space)

This way you could have 11.4 or other distro if you like as backup.

But for just one install, I would do

swap 2GB
ext4 root 40GB
extended all the free space
ext4 /home 120GB
ext4 /store all the remaining space. (I’d use this as backup space, just in case and for during upgrades.)

There is no such thing. Each person will have his preferences and needs.

I would define a root, about 25 GB, swap of about same as ram, another
extra root of about 10, for testing, and the rest for home.

Caf why would you set your home and store partitions on an extended?

Something has to go there, and usually root is not the right choice.

Doesn’t really matter why or what I say, because everyone has their own ideas and will ultimately do what they want. Often regardless of advice or opinions of others.
I just offered my 2c
