Best NIC for OpenSUSE?

I have recently been trying to get a new system working with an onboard Realtek NIC. You can read about my struggles here.

Anyway, I’ve read so many posts on other boards about flakiness with this chipset even when it does finally work that I would like to purchase a different NIC to avoid the issue altogether. What I am looking for now are recommendations on what to buy.

The only real requirements that I have are for it to work at Gigabit speeds and work well with OpenSUSE 11.1. I have several PCIe and PCI slots available.

I would like any recommendations of specific brand or model of NICs that people have had a good experience with when running OpenSUSE.

Thanks for your help.

The Intel e1000s are quality but pricey.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went ahead and ordered this card: Newegg.com - Intel PWLA8391GT 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter 1 x RJ45 - Network Interface Cards

Hope it works!!!

All of the reviews were definitely good…
