best hdmi input resolution for tv

Is it safe to send 1080p to my 50" plasma via dvi->hdmi? and if so, what do I use for a modeline? The panel resolution is 1366x768, but I have read that televisions can’t necessarily take their native resolutions as input. The instructions give a list of acceptable input signals, here is the list:

mode -------------------- horiz. freq. (khz) ---- vert. freq. (hz)
525(480)/60p -------- 15.73 ------------------- 59.94 *
525(480)/60p -------- 31.47 ------------------- 59.94 *
750(720)/60p -------- 45.00 ------------------- 59.94 *
1,125(1,080)/60i ---- 33.75 ------------------- 59.94 *
1,125(1,080)/60p — 67.43 ------------------- 59.94 **
1,125(1,080)/60p — 67.50 ------------------- 60.00 **
*component or hdmi input
**hdmi input only

can I simply use:

→ gtf 1920 1080 60

which gives as output:

1920x1080 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 67.08 kHz; pclk: 172.80 MHz

Modeline “1920x1080_60.00” 172.80 1920 2040 2248 2576 1080 1081 1084 1118 -HSync +Vsync

Will this give a better picture? Will this be safe for the television? If there are any xorg experts out there, I would greatly appreciate the help!
