Best Auxilliary Devices with Flightgear

I have very little experience running Flightgear. I’m running OpenSuse 12.2 64bit KDE3 and I can already see that using the mouse and command keys isn’t the optimum way to use it. Can anyone tell me how they have configured their computers for Flightgear and what accessories they use - joysticks, rudders, yokes, etc?

Thanks, Bob.

At least you need a joystick. A plain one, 2 axis, is enough, but a better one is, well, better

I find the mouse confusing in FG. You can cycle what it does: normal mouse, pannning (?), or
handling. The later when you have a joystick already doing the handling can ruin a smooth
flight path
