I am a relative newcomer so am somewhat loath to offer advice. Having said that I used the zd1211rw initially to set up my wireless before changing to my on board wireless.
When I got to the firmware required window in both cases I just clicked on the "next " button and filled in the details.
I found the message somewhat misleading, as it doesn’t require it at all.
then what do u suggest for belkin to do?
I realised after answering you that I had actually set the wireless up three times. 1st, with the zd1211rw, then with a Belkin ( virtually the same model as yours except different chipset ) and then with the onboard. In all three cases when the firmware page came up I clicked for the next page. As I stated the firmware page is misleading , it appears to me that it is simply stating that the required details are not present. When you enter the details on the following pages the adapter will work.
I have just inserted the Belkin and got to the firmware page, click on the continue button, I said the next, sorry!
but i have tried several times but its not happening. i have used the static ip with net maskwithout a host name. then in the next page i have selected the 64 bit and hexadecimal pass key and entered all the wep keys correctly. then clicked next. but i cannot use internet through belkin. will u please write me the steps. currently i am using internet through a lan cable with automatic ip and dhcp 4. but i need to use this belkin anyhow. other systems in my office have the same suse 11.3 with belkin working. but in my system it is not working. but when i switch to windows in a different hard disk, its working fine.
i have been trying this from 3 days. earlier i am trying it in suse 12.1
since no result came out i have dumped suse 12.1 and installed 11.3 . since belkin is working in other systems with same config and suse 11.3.
i have installed this suse from a live cd. is it a problem?
I am using 12.1 which is slightly easier than 11.3, which I also setup the other day (for a totally unrelated matter ).
If you can wait I will insert my Belkin and type the steps in. Could take a while, how would that strike you?
I too used the Live CD.
Before I do could you tell me if you can get to the page with the "SCAN " button . If you can click on the button and see if any networks show. If they do then it means your adapter is working then you just have to check you are entering the correct 10 digits?
OK. If you can see other networks then its usually one of two things. Either your logon details are incorrect or the correct driver isn’t loaded.
The chipset in your Belkin used to have two versions. The “b” version worked OK, as in mine, but the other was a head ache.
I can only say again, check your logon details. other than that I cannot offer any more help.
Good luck!
