After lurking around here for awhile, I have another suggestion that might have helped avoid a lot of the issues being raised in this sub-Forum:
**Not just New Users, but even many of the other users (yes, even some of the veterans) could benefit from a Refresher Read through the information, thus picking up some of the "Oh, yeah, forgot about that"s and even a few unconsidered tips that will help prevent many headaches.
Before Installing or Upgrading any openSUSE version, read through oldcpu’s well-thought-out and well-written thread “NEW Users - openSUSE Pre-install (general) -PLEASE READ”
I read it again, and will do so again in the future. Lots of things there that I should have known or that have slipped my mind. And, many of us will probably benefit from reading it again.

I’ve just had a quick shufti and think it would be even more useful if
it was reviewed and updated where necessary. For instance, the section
on wireless only links to ndiswrapper(!) and that link is lost.
