its like sometimes its not loading the ssb which the b43 firmware needs.

This is utter nonsense! The module ssb contains a mini-driver named
b43-pci-bridge. It contains the code that the kernel uses to load a
driver, which automatically means that ssb is loaded. Then the bridge
uses the 802.11 core revision to determine if this device needs b43 or
b43legacy. These latter drivers load the firmware.
Please post the output of the command
dmesg | egrep “ssb|b43|wlan0”
when it is in the “unable to connect” state.

Your radio enable switch is off! If the radio is turned off, how can
it connect?
i did a reinstall of the firmware and i dont get the error about the radio being disabled now. i got the radio disabled message when it would connect before the reinstall.
so where are you at now steveo?
it had to do something with the first time i installed the firmware. it works every time since i did the reinstall. the b43 chipset has given everyone problems since us linux users started running it under our favorite linux flavor.
