BasKet - Note Taking Application Suggestion

I thought of suggesting this application to those of you who like writing notes and making your notes funky by grouping them, posting links, dragging images, and tagging the boxes in whichever way you want. IMHO it’s easy to handle it and has a sweet interface, so I guess it’s worth giving it a try :). If you’re on openSUSE 11.4, you can download and install it by accessing this link: software.opensuse.org: Search Results.

Hei!

Do you know how to embed it into kontact, it doesn’t seem to be recognised automatically?

It used to be embedded (like KJots is – as “Notebooks”) on much earlier releases. IIRC that requirement is an outstanding issue/listed bug/todo against Basket on KDE’s bug reporting system.

It appears to be embedded automatically. I don’t know why you have this issue :(.

Ok, thanks.

Basket is a nice tool anyhow, but I like the Kontact application, nice to have all in one place.

Probably using different versions. Is yours the latest in Factory?

I have version 2.0beta1. It’s embedded. The problem is, now I see it ('cause I don’t use Kontact), that when I select it on the side panel, to write a note, Kontact crashes. It is an old bug, probably they didn’t manage to fix it. Thanks for noticing this!

Aha! I’m only using version 1.81-2.20.x86_64, for KDE4 but not embedded in Kontact on Tumbleweed, so I will try to install a newer version for that and same on 11.4. I have been using Basket since openSUSE included it <= version 1] in the distro. Thanks for this thread and providing a link to the latest versions.

Actually version 2.0beta1 is an earlier release than 2.0beta2, which is equivalent to what you have  (see here: BasKet Note Pads). So you’re using the latest one, and that is probably why it’s not embedded (as it was in 2.0 beta1). Maybe it’s not embedded in Kontakt (anymore) because of that stinky bug which I’ve already mentioned.

I’m sure you are right about those releases as I probably misinterpreted the openSUSE numbering. For 1.81, there are [minor] updates in KDE:Extra/openSUSE_11.4_KDE_Distro_Factory (-2.9) and -2.3 from KDE:Extra/KDE_Release_47_openSUSE_11.4, whereas the one from KDE:Extra/openSUSE_Tumbleweed is -2.1 so I am slightly ahead of that one.
