ok, i’m a newbie at this, so bear with me…
i have installed suse 11 with a live cd. i have tried to configure my network card (think it is right) but cannot seem to access my router (d-link 625). i try to use the admin setup for the router, but cannot get to it. i have tried everything and my eyes are crossing from reading so many posts, but most of them are specific about a problem i wish i had. i cannot see if my network card is properly recognized. how do i do that? how do i then ping my router? when trying to get my dsl set up, i get an orange window saying that my country (germany) listings is not correct. i am assuming that suse is trying to connect to the internet to get the information.
i am connected to the internet with Arcor and do not need to have my password etc. installed because my router does that. but how do i get to my router? is there a guide on the internet to help me?
i feel really dumb writing this, but i am at my wits end…
ok, new information: just got access to my router (restart does wonders!), but still have no access to internet. how do i get suse to work through the router to get to the internet? with windows i only have to have an access code, but with suse i cannot get to the point of inputing the access code.
so i humbly request that this thread be deleted…unless my solution is a help to anyone…
if you are redoing the network connection and have no idea why it is not working, folks, just hit the restart button and see what happens…you loose maybe 5 minutes of your time, but the stress is usually gone.
congratulations to the purplefool!!! he is now in the internet!!
