Hey! So I downloaded the repository for banshee and then I clicked upgrade in software management, and now banshee won’t work. It was working a couple days ago and today as well. But up until an hour ago or at least when I tried to upgrade it, banshee stopped working. It won’t even load. What should I do?
You might have some mixed dependencies if you ONLY upgraded banshee. Usually Yast will upgrade everything that depends on Banshee, but there are occasions when it doesn’t. Check to make sure all of your banshee packages are up to date. According to my software management with the banshee repository enabled your packages should be version 1.7.3-1.1 except for the extensions which should be on version 1.6.0-1.2.
Take Care,
Ian
Ok. So I checked the versions of what banshee needs, and everything seems up-to-date. All except banshee community extensions. And I still can’t install banshee. So I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Any other suggestions?
First lets see what packages you have. Could you please open a terminal and type:
rpm -qa --last "*banshee*"
And also try opening banshee from the terminal. This will give you helpful clues on why it won’t even start up.
Also which version of openSUSE are you using? I was able to successfully install and use Banshee on openSUSE 11.3.
Take Care,
Ian
