I have installed opensuse11 on my system with banshee 1, lame and w32codec-all on my system. When I go to edit > preferences and click on the audio cd tab their is not option to import audio as mp3. I am able to import mp3 files and play them just not rip audio tracks to mp3. In previous versions we always had helix-banshee that had the mp3 codec available but their is no helix-banshee on openSUSE11. Is it possible to set banshee 1 up to import audio as mp3? How do I accomplish this?

installing the following packages seems to fix it.
w32codecs-all
lame
gstreamer-010-plugins-ugly
gstreamer-010-plugins-bad
gstreamer-fluendo-mp3

Does “lame” have a special repository? I’ve found lame-devel and Twolame, but I’m not sure if either one is needed.

In my Suse 11.0 I can see different versions of “lame” in the Packman and/or in the VideoLan repositories.
Have you chosen those repositories?
The “libmp3lame-devel”-packs are also in those repositores:
Are you sure that you have not installed “lame” already?
