Band of hot pixels on compaq nx9005

Hallo. I have an HP Compaq nx9005 with an ATI integrated graphics card, on which I have been running OpenSuse 11.0 without problems. When I tried the 11.1 live CD, however, I got a broad band of hot pixels across the middle of the screen, making is unusable.

I have encounted similar problems with some other distros, but not as bad as this. Is this a driver issue? Or is my computer simply too old to upgrade to 11.1?

I cannot find any alternative settings in the display configuration which solve the problem.

Have you read though the ATI wiki : ATI - openSUSE

One thing I would also recomend is to install the ATI propriety driver - either using the easy one-click or by downloading and installing from the ATI site. The wiki should guide you through this.
The opensource drivers should be ok/good… but often results can be better when using the propriety driver.
