good night

2nd i installed many software , iwant to take a copy of the programs to install it in another pc

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I have never tried it but as the USB contains a hybrid iso, it should be possible to copy the iso to a DVD. I don’t think you will gain any advantage because pretty well all devices have USB slots now.

You can only install what you have on your current PC on another PC if the hardware is a clone of your current PC. When openSUSE was installed it selected the drivers and so on that were needed by your hardware; these will normally be different on another PC. I think you will also find that copying individual files rather than an image (which is what effectively happens during the installation) will take you a lot longer.

You headed this post ‘backup my software.’ This is not normally needed in Linux because (1) you can easily reinstall it (2) it is likely that in a few days your backup will be out of date because you will have begun to get the regular software updates.

Note that any settings you have made to your software are not stored with the software but in your /home partition. If you upgrade, the upgrade will read the settings in your /home partition and use them. So the only thing you really need to backup is your /home partition.

Well… you could try clonezilla, but it is not sure that it will work.

Another way is “autoyast”, but this will download everything, and I’m
unsure it is up to date (sp. with several repos).

Another is create your own install system using susestudio.

Another is create a local mirror of the repos you use.

Another is to share the “/var/cache/zypp/packages/” directories across
machines, and configure all repos to keep downloaded rpms. This has to
be done early, just after the initial install, or the directory will be
empty. AND, a mistake in repo config of any machine and the packages are
deleted (default is do not keep).
