I have fully updated 42.2.
I would like to copy my 100 GB Home directory to another drive as a backup.
When I use Thunar to copy the directory to another drive it will fail with a file or directory not found. It did this twice but I did not write down the file name. Speed of copy seems to be under 2 hrs. I’m not sure of this time because it stops early in the copy.
When I use rsynch from grsynch, the speed is abysmal. It appears to be greater than 8 hours.
I am copying from 1 internal sata to another.
Is there a way to either not have the Thunar copy stop or speed up rsync?
There is one thing witth rsync you should take into account. It only takes “long” the first time used. When you re-use it to re-sync your backup, it will only transfer changes and thus in the normal case, it will be much quicker then.
Thanks…
Once it got past the .cache files, it sped right up.
It finished 118 GB in 90 minutes.
There were some permission errors I have to look at, but nothing really worrying.
