I have Firefox 3.0.4. I want my backspace key to be ‘mapped’ to the ‘go back one page’ button (like it does on Windows…old habits die hard). Any ideas?
From what I read in another thread you are kde3
And I would suggest upgrading to the build service of kde3 by adding this repo:
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.0
You need to use the Control Centre in kde3, only I can’t remember which section. But there is section where you can set keyboard shortcuts.
If it’s any help, the standard binding for Linux Firefox is Alt-Leftarrow and correspondingly to go forwards in the history, Alt-Rightarrow. Sorry, I don’t know how to change it to backspace, I suppose it must be possible, but A-L suits me fine.
Here’s the official list of firefox shortcuts: Firefox keyboard shortcuts
At the end of the page
Firefox does not provide any method of customizing keyboard shortcuts.
Simple guide on how to do it right here:

great that worked
Many Thanks
i am not used to that and do NOT want it made standard on Firefox!
the built in Alt+leftArrow works perfectly…watch and i bet
eventually M$ will ‘innovate’ that into IE also…
