Backlight control not working after installing Leap 42.1

As in the title. I changed from 13.1 to Leap 42.1 (did a clean install) on my Samsung netbook and now the backlight control is not working. Pressing the keys gets the response from KDE OSD, but the backlight stays the same.

Truth is, it never worked ootb, but usually adding “acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor” to GRUB as I read on some website long time ago resolved the problem. This time it does nothing.

I’ve found this article http://ordinatechnic.com/os-specific-guides/opensuse/opensuse-leap-421-review-supplement and tried to add “video.use_native_backlight=1”, but this doesn’t work either.

I’ve tried installing xbacklight, which I read is supposed to control backlight from the command line, but it fails too.

And I’m out of options. There has to be a way to make it work, but I need someone to guide me, as my knowledge is limited.

So please, help me save my eyes and battery life. Thank you in advance.

option;

Well, the other thread was about a different release. But I’ve tried adding this to boot and it doesn’t work either.

And this thread can be closed. I found a way to fix the issue using this guide: http://itsfoss.com/fix-brightness-ubuntu-1310/ It’s for Ubuntu, but worked for me too.

Does this seem like a good way to solve the issue? I hope it won’t backfire.
