Avatars

I go away for a few days, and Swerdna has changed his avatar from the glowy-eyebally-skull thingie to the gecko on the surf board. This is disconcerting. I *liked *the glowy-eyeball-skull thingie.

And now malcomlewis has changed his avatar, and he had the coolest one on the board!!! This is distressing.

Of course, I note that Chrysantine’s avatar changes quite frequently. I’m used to that. But I wonder if this is becoming the wave of the future? Should I change my Buster Keaton sipping his cuppa tea?

I’ll have to ponder this one over the long Christmas holiday. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

People associate avatars with users so it’s good to keep a theme of familiarity.

YES! Well said.

You’ve used the dog whizzing on Windows for so long, I know instantly and immediately when you’ve appeared in a thread!

See? This stuff is IMPORTANT.

Actually this is my Normal Av

But see how you made the association. I changed it about a week ago after getting in a rage with W7. It’ll stay that way until I cool off.lol!

Trying to make an avatar of yourself tends to be pretty tricky when you don’t want to make it too much just a photo of yourself too, maybe I should replace it with a devil girl again >:)

Christmas avatar? ahhh humbug ! rotfl!

No need. We naturally make the associationlol!
Heidi = Smoki’n Hot Devil Woman;)

It’s the same all over again: Now we’re making clear, we’re not looking for who somebody is, we just want them to be easy recognizable.

Having made this conclusion, Caf’s health is worrying me: his avatar shows that his urine contains proprietary elements

This is true. I guess you have never taken multi-vitamins.

LOL, well I couldn’t fit a holiday hat on oscar, so he decided to have
a holiday break  (if you use nntp he is still there  )

Close enough. Windows IS a cold, lifeless fireplug.

Hey Paul. Take it easy man.

I have a bucket load of avatars I created on my Picasa page if anyone wants, feel free to grab. Many SuSE ones like this one.

Bwahahah  That thing is huge!

Speaking of avatars, santa hats & such, any notice the the “santa hat” in the VLC media player?

Seasonal Greetings (to be politically correct). Have fun.
I am pro “seasonal avatar”. It is just I did not find any way to put Tsun Tse’s art of war into a “seasonal outfit”. So here we go with…a man wearing red clothes and having an accident on ice. lol!

Happy winter solstice.

He’ll turn around in his grave for you butchering his name :open_mouth:

His actual name is 孫武 (孙武 in simplified Chinese), read “Sūn Wǔ” in Chinese and “Son Bu” in Japanese (last name first).
He is, however, often referred to as 孫子 (孙子), read “Sūn Zǐ” and meaning “Master Sūn”. Sometimes you’ll also find the older spelling “Sun Tzu”.

Putting him into some droll 南蛮 (nanban, “southern barbarian”) winter outfit would’ve been very odd indeed.
