Autoyast, users and etc/skel

I’m trying to create an autoyast script so that the users created have a couple of shortcuts on their desktops. After running the install, I see the shortcuts in /etc/skel/Desktop and the users are created, but the shortcuts don’t get copied to their desktops. What am I doing wrong?

Do you mean that the files are not copied to the users /home/Desktop/ (and thus not show when loged in) or are they copied and nevertheless do not show?

Which desktop? KDE or Gnome?

Gnome desktop. The users /home/Desktop directory is empty when they log in.

I made the error first >:(. I assume we both mean* /home/<username>/Desktop* and not /home/Desktop.

I am not a Gnome user. But IIRC KDE populates that directory when you log in KDE for the first time (in the “normal” case a simple creation of the user does not).

Does Gnome not put there anything when the user logs in for the first time? Then it wouldbe double strange that it is empty.

You are mixing two things: one is autoyast (used to replicate
installs, and more), another is /etc/skel, which is used by “adduser”.

Try running adduser to see if the files in /etc/skel/Desktop get copied
or not.
