AutoYast not letting me configure my installation?

Where are all my installation options? I downloaded the DVD and it just starts immediately with installing. I want to see where it gets installed, the harddrives, the partitions, I want to pick Gnome instead of KDE.

Where is all that?

You need to tell us a few things:

  1. What you downloaded.

  2. What version you downloaded.

  3. How you started the installer.

For 12.3, the standard installation is exactly what you describe - so it
sounds like you downloaded something other than an official release DVD.

Nope, using autoyast is completely about taking the install to the next machine without having to do it all over again. You cannot autoyast (clone) a KDE install to a GNOME one. We can clone sheep, but the clones will always be sheep, never gorillas. If you don’t want a clone, don’t use auto-yast.

I downloaded this: openSUSE-12.3-DVD-x86_64.iso

and put it into vmplayer. It doesn’t let me choose any options.

@Knurpht: So how do I disable it?

that is a vmware feature (quick install or how they call it)
create the virtual machine and choose to install the operating system
later then assign the iso as virtual dvd drive and boot the empty
virtual machine, this should bypass that feature
