automount usb stick with iso-8859-1

When a usb stick is automounted it is mounted using the charset utf-8, but I want to change that default setting so that automounted volumes use iso-8859-1.

Of course I could add each usb stick into fstab and specify it there, but I want to change the default setting, rather than for a specific device.

How do I do?

I think you can do this by changing the udev rules (not trivial, at least for me). Try googling it or check Suse’s howto’s.
