Automatically configure monitor settings?

I am using an ultrabook, and when I am at home, I usually connect it to an external screen. I used ubuntu (with gnome 3 and KDE) before, and it could automatically configure the settings, that is, when I plug in the HDMI cable, the external monitor is automatically enabled and the monitor of my ultrabook is disabled; and when I unplug the cable, the monitor of my ultrabook automatically comes back to work. However, this is not the case on opensuse 12.3. When I plug or unplug, a window comes up and asks me to set up using “Size & Orientation”. This is very annoying because when I unplug the cable, the ultrabook’s monitor is still disabled and it is definitely impossible for me to do any settings.

Is there any way or workaround to get the automatic configuration?
