Automatic Update doesn't work after 11.2

Hi!
I installed from scratch 11.2, but i see now that the Automatic update doesn’t work.

I run “Refresh” on Updater Applet and it come up with an error: PackageKit Error repo-not-available:

My repositories look ok, but maybe i’m missing something.

Please help!

If you execute on console as root:

$ zypper update

Do you have any errors?

Hi!
I executed “zypper update” and it ask to update 74 packages. I run trough this and now after reboot the problem resist with the Updater Applet (Same error), but now if i execute “zypper update” it says “Nothing to do”.

Any ide?

RS

Yes.
The system is up to date.

You funny guy

So is there some bug with the “Updater applet”?

RS

What does this show

zypper lp

It says there is no more updates available.
When i run zypper, everything seems ok. Only the automatic “Updater Applet” wont work.

Bug or misconfiguration?

RS

I never use the updater applet
But I guess you can try re-configuring it

Hang on a bit and I’ll boot a sandbox to check it for you - funny guy that I am:)

Please post result of this from a terminal

zypper lr -d

This what I see in settings
http://thumbnails6.imagebam.com/6246/84e46262456564.gif](http://www.imagebam.com/image/84e46262456564)

I have a similar problem. I can’t say at the moment what the error message is, but when I am advised that updates are available, and I ask for them to be installed, the applet fails. I think it’s a permissions problem. I then take the manual update option, and everything is OK.

Any idea what could be wrong?

> Any idea what could be wrong?

lots of ideas, but without more info from you i couldn’t guess which
it might be:

why do you suspect a permissions problem?
has it always done this, or did it “just start”?
what (exactly) is the error shown?
what operating system and version are you using?
what desktop environment?

Please post result of this from a terminal

zypper lr -d

palladium

It started after I installed OpenSUSE 11.2. It didn’t happen in 11.1.

I did a full fresh install of 11.2.

I’ll tell you exactly what the error is when it occurs next; when the next updates are notified.

Generally KDE4, sometimes Gnome. KDE4 for preference because of another problem I am having with USB connected drives. But I’ll do another post about that.

Done. Now to wait for updates.

Open a terminal and become su, then do

zypper up

using YaST Software Repositories disable the above numbers 2, 3 and 4,
leaving those and 5 and 8 disabled…also, all disabled repos do not
need to be updated, so UNcheck “Automatically Refresh”…[disabling #2
will cause it to stop expecting to see the install CD in the caddy,
and ‘force’ it to check for all live, online sources]

disabling those will leave you running these enabled:

1 updates
6 non-oss
7 oss

and most folks add and enable packman, for a variety of reasons–i’m
not sure why you don’t have it, if you have reason to not want it,
okay be me…then click “Finish”

read more about the “the four repos” to normally run here:
http://forums.opensuse.org/new-user-how-faq-read-only/424611-new-users-opensuse-pre-install-general-please-read.html#post2058902
and, after you hare read all the links in that posting, and in that
thread you will zoom to head of the class and near-Guru status!!

this thread is great also:
http://forums.opensuse.org/new-user-how-faq-read-only/424615-new-users-suse-11-2-pre-installation-please-read.html

but, to continue with your updater not working:
after YaST has finished, open a terminal and issue these commands, one
at a time:

zypper ref

zypper dup

hopefully there will be no errors, copy paste them back here if there
are any…

then, maybe the next time the updater says it wants to run it will,
with no errors–however, i’m just GUESSING at what the error is…so,
if it errors again, copy/paste that puppy back to here…

palladium

I have added Packman, NVIDIA and libdvdcss repos.

Performed zypper ref
All repos up to date.

Didn’t do zypper dup. I won’t try that until I’m near the end of my month’s download quota.

This morning there were some updates. Same error, which was:

PackageKit Error not-authorized: Failed to obtain authentication.

That’s why I think it might be a permissions problem.
