Last time this happened YAST’s update cleared it. This time it hasn’t. It reckons that there are 16 to do and some have been done. YAST didn’t want to do some of the others. Those seem to relate to vlc.
The only thing that is unsupported on my machine is claws mail from source. The distro version doesn’t have a plugin that is essential - handling html emails. I do from time to time want to view them as html so that the sender do know that I have actually read them. The block clearly hasn’t anything to do with that.
So how do I clear the pending auto updates? It will probably block again but I should be able to prevent that eventually by settings in yast software management.
John
Yast update only does patches (same as zypper patch ) only comes from the update repo. So not all version changes are done just patches.
zypper up should at least show you error messages

:’( That might help so I suppose it needs to be zypper dup and no other alternatives ?
I’m a bit disturbed that yast can’t do the same thing as auto update and comes to different conclusions as to what needs to be done.
I suspect the problem will be that vlc generating segmentation faults again but if I deselect things relating to that in the auto update panel I get a dependency can’t be found message. A bit of an odd one to get. I may well be going back to opensuse codecs too but saw no sighs of that when vlc was sorted out from the repo.
I have a sneaking suspicion that I should have disabled the packman repo.

Running zypper doesn’t seem to be a good idea at all. It looks like it has the same problem so no point. On it’s way it wants to downgrade 126 packages to update 24.
The other aspect is that I disabled Packman and zypper still wants to do a lot of vendor changes so thought tell it to disable that repo too and it came back nothing to do - already disabled in other words.
The last time auto update locked up a downgrade was the culprit plus missing dependency - that looked to be a too recent open java that came with the install. I think at the time that I had installed the latest firefox from their site but on recollection didn’t.
So how can I tell zypper to forget what it’s currently trying to do and take another look ?
John
Show use
Also don’t run zypper dup in 42.2 only done in TW. Use zypper up. dup is only for distribution upgrades.
Also show us your repositories
zypper lr -d
You seem to have a nak for doing the wrong things

:P;) to you too. I have found a zypper cheat sheet which might help. If I read man I’ve forgotten what I have read by the time I get to the end of it.
Anyway

Wicked uses modem manager and is in use for my connection to another network. Can’t check if that is still working without a reboot.
However auto update is still blocked so ???

A reboot has cleared auto update so that’s ok now. Also I am not accessing the internet via the other network. I can still access the router on that network so that aspect seems to be ok. Also the one I am using on this network.
If this is going to happen again perhaps it’s best to disable the packman repo. VLC still seems to be ok so why fix if not broken. Any opinions ?
