How do I get my floppy drive and cameras to mount automatically ? I can access these devices by going to File System -> Places, but it is a cumbersome way of doing it. Ideally I would like to put in a floppy and see it load; to connect my camera and see it recognised automatically on the desktop like I do with a CD.
I’m not sure whether this has been implemented in KDE4 but in KDE3, right clicking Create New>Link to Device>Floppy lets you add a desktop icon. After you have inserted a floppy, clicking on this icon starts the mount process and opens the results in Konqueror.
You have to right click on the icon and select Unmount before removing the floppy.
If it hasn’t been implemented in KDE4 and you have KDE3 installed, you can add it using KDE3 and it should work in KDE4.
There is also an option to set up a camera icon which I presume works in the same way as the floppy icon though I believe I have seen cameras detected and mounted automatically by some programs.
It isn’t strictly speaking auto mount for a floppy but the mounting is combined with the selection of the device; so it needs no more clicks to achieve…
