Authorisation error when checking for updates

After a big update recently I have started to get a couple of authorisation issues. The major one is that the Software Updates which runs in the systray gets an authorisation error when it tries to check for updates. The other issue is that Solaar has stopped being able to open my Logitech Receiver when it starts. I am able to get Solaar working if run as boot but prior to this recent update it has stopped working when run as me.

I wonder if these two problems are related perhaps? Any ideas please?

Well because I had sound issues as well I ran the

pam-config --add --systemd

command which has solved not only the sound issue but also my Solaar one, my Software Updates issue and the fact that my TV tuner was not working.
