OK - first of all - yes I ment Opensuse 12.3 - was already thinking about KDE… must be old age!

Am also curious about the kernel you’re running, if your installation has been updated enough to run KDE 4.10x or higher, why you might still be running kernel 3.9.x (3.10.x is current standard).

None of these are likely directly related to your described issue but might provide clues about your system setup.

The kernel does not matter in this case, but it was the standard 12.3 kernel I guess, so 3.7.10. And KDE 4.10.x is included in 12.3.
The system setup should be a standard 12.3 installation AFAIUI.

But the original problem is already solved since a while.
