Well… I changed my notebook CPU from a P4 2.8/400 Northwood to a Mobile P4 3.06/533 Northwood and the system is a little bit fast as expected, but… if I start playing some music with Amarok or VLC after few seconds it stops and, with Amarok I have to quit and restart it again, while with VLC I can stop and restart the play (if I restart play on Amarok it hangs and I need to kill it).
After various tests seams that the music stop every time the CPU change clock (Mobile P4 version has SpeedStep).
The system is OpenSUSE 11.0 with KDE 4.1.3 updated to the latest stable packages.
The CPU is one my theory, but it can be also one of the latest patches… I’m here to ask if someone know something about this.
