Audio on Pavilion dv7 1070el

Just installed Opensuse 11.0 on the second HD. Vista Premium is installed on the first HD.

On Vista: audio hardware is reported as Nvidia HDMI Audio
Hardware information in Opensuse reports 82801l (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller.
Cannot hear any sound with Opensuse
There’s a touch key on the keyboard that switches on the audio.
It doesn’t switches on! It always shows a red led.
When I boot Vista it works perfectly.

Is there anyone who can give me any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Sandro

The dv7 is similar to the DV5. I was researching laptops recently and I noted this:

I also note a dv7 user here who tried to get sound, but failed Beta 5, no sound - openSUSE Forums You could try the suggestions I made in that thread.

Note if this sound test fails:speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav
then try this sound test: speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav

Definitely try my thread there as in the end I managed to get it going. See the last post there… it contains the solution that worked for me.

Hi to everybody!

added the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/sound
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4 enable_msi=1

it works! Thank you

PS: Treble is ok; Bass seems not to be working!
