Audio oddity

openSUSE 12.2 RC2 64bit KDE 4.8.4

After configuring RC2 similarly to 11.4 on the same box I had no sound from the speakers plugged into the rear onboard sound. Several hours of retracing my steps made no difference. Then I accidentally pulled the headphone plug from the front panel socket. That’s right, the speakers came on. Same box, same setup. Does that indicate 12.2 and 11.4 use different drivers? Different codecs? How do I go about diagnosing the cause?

Thanks in advance.

Hard to say if you don’t tell us what the audio hardware is in the
system.

Sounds like a new feature and not a bug to me.

Thank You,
