Audio garbled, Video stuck in fast forward

ok, so finally after weeks of dilly-dallying , I finally ditched Windows 7 and installed openSUSE 11.3 (KDE), right, installation was fairly smooth and easy, the only problem I seem to be having is with audio and video, audio (mostly mp3) is garbled and distorted like hell, and videos seem to be stuck in fast forward. the problem persists even on sites like youtube ( I do have flash installed) etc, so I basically have a ton of music which I can’t play.

Any help would be appreciated.

Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide

umm I did install the codecs, although I would like to begin afresh, so How do I uninstall the already installed ones ?

Virtually impossible

Run thru the list
Do the switch: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10573557/Switcher%20Pics/packman.jpg

I did just as you said and now amarok say no mp3 support ?

youtube is still stuck in fast forward

and vlc / mplayer play audio but with major stutter

You can do this as su -

zypper rr 4
zypper rr 1

You are going to need to check the packages manually by browsing in software manager, viewing packman, check to see if each package is packman (pm)
See this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10573557/Switcher%20Pics/version-radio-button-QT.png

Not every package has a pm version, but most do. Switch what you can if it’s necessary.

I have run my guide on countless installs over past weeks and it works every time. If you don’t have too much time an effort devoted to your install, you might consider a fresh install. Takes me less than an hour from booting the DVD to a complete and fully loaded install.
