Audio control buttons not working

openSUSE 13.1 KDE 4.13.3 Kernel 3.15.6.2

laptop Dell Precision M4800 FHD screen

this laptop has three buttons for audio control on the top left side just under the screen, one for mute, two for up and down volume

if I press one of the buttons the progress bar is showing correctly but there is no effect on the sound increasing or decreasing

is there any way to make them working for the purpose of audio control?

I’m going to pull this one out of my bum but perhaps the volume control is working but it’s not adjusting the right device/channel.

What happens if you right click the mixer icon in your taskbar and choose Select Master Channel (and choose another device/stream) or alternatively left click it and click on the Mixer button - does the volume control move any of the knobs up or down?

it was selected the HDMI channel, selecting the other it works
