Audex for leap 15.1

Hi all,

I’m like this small gui https://software.opensuse.org/package/audex for cdparanoia.
Used it for yeas, gone with 15.1.

Asked in #suse:

[16:49] <MichaelOF> hi all. loved this small and lean tool in Leap 15.0: Audex, https://software.opensuse.org/package/audex Any hints why Audex has been gone in 15.1?
[16:55] <tigerfoot> MichaelOF: it seems it build for Leap 15.2 (so perhaps a rebirth) https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/KDE:Extra/audex but but it depend on kde4-devel which means almost will not last long in the future, if you know upstream and love this software time to ask (politely) them to migrate the code to qt5
[16:56] <aaronpuchert> MichaelOF: Maybe because it's KDE4-based. See https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/690043.
[16:57] <MichaelOF> tigerfoot: thanks for your answer, will definitively ask. As polite as possible, of course!
[16:57] <MichaelOF> aaronpuchert: thank you, too

… and #kde

[17:07] <MichaelOF> hi all. I love a small tool for some years now, Audex: https://userbase.kde.org/Audex. Currently based on kde4, I would politely ask the owners if will support qt5, maybe in future
[17:08] <MichaelOF> but no idea how to get in touch with them: Github https://github.com/KDE/audex/projects offers no possibility to add issues. https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi does not list it.
[17:09] <MichaelOF> could anyone give me hint about the "official" way how to place a request/wish like mine?
[17:11] <JanKusanagi> github.com is not an official place for projects made by KDE
[17:12] <JanKusanagi> https://cgit.kde.org/audex.git/log/
[17:12] <JanKusanagi> seems active
[17:12] <JanKusanagi> (semi)
[17:13] <asturm> MichaelOF: audex can be built against kf5 from git master
[17:13] <asturm> if your distro is shipping it, there's a good chance they are already using a snapshot based on kf5
[17:15] <MichaelOF> asturm: I'm using OpenSuse Leap 15.1. Audex was included in official repos until Leap 15.0, now gone. That's why I'm asking, missing it :( Asked about Audex in #suse, and got the hint to ask the Audex developers about qt5
[17:16] <asturm> MichaelOF: ask opensuse to make a snapshot
[17:16] <asturm> or maybe there is an opensuse repository for additional software
[17:17] <asturm> of course, an actual kf5 based upstream release would go a long way towards downstream recognition

Any hints who and how I should “ask opensuse to make a snapshot”?

Regards,
Michael

openSUSE Software Took me a fraction of a second to find.

Absolutely no idea how you’re searching. Starting from software.opensuse.org, even enabling ALL options to include dev pkgs etc., I’m forwarded to this URL: Search
without a single hit.

So maybe a software.opensuse.org issue?

Klicking on “Show communtity packages” should help…

“Show communtity packages” is earliest available once you’ve FOUND a package.
Which exactly had been NOT the case for me, I COULDN’T find anything.

But I’ve found out that really https://software.opensuse.org/ search results are somewhat “by chance” :frowning:

Maybe because of Firefox incompatibilities?

Steps reproducible for me:

–> NOTHING found at this stage <–

“Workaround”:

  • when at this step, klick on “ALL distributions” and select any other option.
  • klick search
  • select e.g. “ALL distributions” again

EARLIEST now “Audex” and “Audex5” are found.

Completely confusing, at least for lightheads like me, 1000+ extra points for usability

Thanks to all who answered!!!

Well, I just put “Opensuse audex” into a google search, and this came back:

audex **KDE4 based CDDA extraction tool**
Audex is an audio grabber tool for CD-ROM drives based on KDE 4.

There are five repos listed under 15.1 Show community packages.

Is this what you wanted?

“Show communtity packages” is earliest available once you’ve FOUND a package.

For me with audex as search string:

THANKS again to all who answered!!!

But please trust me that I’m able to press “search” on a website.

It’s really the “software.opensuse.org” search which is buggy, as said from time to time.
