The Audacious in factory packman is broken ( was when I tried two days ago. ) How do I get a working version in 12.3?

if you don’t know enough about logging bugs to report problems found
then just stick to supported software…no need to fill this software

Sorry I seemed to have irritated you.
I was incorrect it’s not the codec pack it’s the output hook to the sound system.
audacious has an output plug-in which I just installed

Did you update audacious-plugins?
Adding in “audacious-plugins” the YAST2 Software Manager complains of version incompatibility and offers to not install or break dependencies. I picked break dependencies

no, not at all irritated…
i see you have contacted the developers (in the factory mail list)
which is good…
just a note: patience there, some actually take a break from ‘work’
on weekends, claiming they have family and such!

I have noticed and it is nice in a way.
Stuff gets serious sometimes on the list.
They need a break weekly.
After looking at things I thought they might be best in a position to tell me to fill a bug or wait.
It might just be a matter of resources focused on the core and that is all. The Essentials repos all worked pretty flawlessly.
I installed audacious on 12.2 and it doesn’t work without audacious-plugins package though it is not marked as a dependency.
The plugins package included in factory right now is not the correct one for the version of Audacious.
The wrong versions are un-resolvable at this point.
I have put word out on the factory mailing list. It may not get attention until after the 12.3 release.
This is not a package in high demand I don’t think. It not in the essentials repo.
Stuff in factory can be broken that is part of the process.
