I did that and it threw no errors when switching to winamp mode.
It may be related to the oxygen theme then.
Could you try to set something else in “Configure Desktop”->“Application Appearance”->GTK? (I think Audacious uses Gtk3, but try to change both to be sure)
Well, that bug would appear more likely in KDE than in GNOME of course, because most of the time you won’t use an icon theme containing the appropriate (GNOME) icons. So gtk would need to take them from the fallback icon-theme which it gets wrong because of that bug.
Do we know when the fix will come down the pike? It effects a whole lot of applications. I see where there is a repo you could use right now, but I am not sure how much in trouble you would get into if you decided to add and update your PC from it. What are your thoughts on the subject?
Not sure, as it will be part of a bigger GNOME update.

I think this is quite safe, since all those packages are going to be released as online updates anyway.
It may be that there will be some bug fixes added yet, though…
this problem occurs in audacious 3.3.4 from packman only. if you install 3.4.2 from home:serg0 the interface is correctly loaded, but I can’t play any on-line radio (the http and mms plugins don’t work).
Also, http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1_aaclca.pls (HTTP) and mms://wmlive-acl.bbc.co.uk/wms/bbc_ami/radio1/radio1_bb_live_ep1_sl0?BBC-UID=c5e219b638a880a8d1763a34a14356a720b62f7850100261c2083014843db2c4&SSO2-UID= (MMS) work just fine here.
