Audacious gui problem (winamp look ) 13.1

I just installed openSUSE 13.1 and reinstalled Audacious.

There is a problem with the winamp look though.

Buttons are not there, playlist windows seems empty, analyser is not working, but it does play the files. (sound works)

Not sure if this is an openSUSE issue, or packman or Audacious it self.

Any ideas on how to fix this ?

( it worked fine on 12.3 )

I can confirm the problem.

But I have no time right now to investigate further, sorry…

No problem, I now know at least, the problem is not just on my side.

Maybe I am gonna start the program from the command-line, to see if I get errors and or missing dependencies.
I should have time for this later today.

I did that and it threw no errors when switching to winamp mode.

GNOME 3.10.1
openSUSE 13.1 (Bottle) (x86_64) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.11.6-4-desktop

I see you’re using gnome ?

Then maybe its kde related…

I just started audacious from the command line and I do get an error.

Failed to load plugin (/usr/lib64/audacious/Input/sid.so): libresid-builder.so.0: kan gedeeld objectbestand niet openen: Bestand of map bestaat niet

The dutch part translated into English:

Cant open shared object? file. File or folder does not exist.

Now hats something I am gonna google.

It may be related to the oxygen theme then.
Could you try to set something else in “Configure Desktop”->“Application Appearance”->GTK? (I think Audacious uses Gtk3, but try to change both to be sure)

I can’t try since I’m not near my Linux system…

OTOH it could also be this GNOME bug:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=850827
Should be fixed by an update soon…

Failed to load plugin (/usr/lib64/audacious/Input/sid.so): libresid-builder.so.0: kan gedeeld objectbestand niet openen: Bestand of map bestaat niet

That’s a different problem, related to the sid (C64 music files) input plugin.
I had this on 12.3 already.

Although I am using kde, that gnome bug, looks like the same problem, I am having with the winamp layout.

Well, that bug would appear more likely in KDE than in GNOME of course, because most of the time you won’t use an icon theme containing the appropriate (GNOME) icons. So gtk would need to take them from the fallback icon-theme which it gets wrong because of that bug.

Do we know when the fix will come down the pike? It effects a whole lot of applications. I see where there is a repo you could use right now, but I am not sure how much in trouble you would get into if you decided to add and update your PC from it. What are your thoughts on the subject?

Thank You,

lets see if we can speed up this bug fixing.

I am going to report this on the audacious forum.

Not sure, as it will be part of a bigger GNOME update.

I think this is quite safe, since all those packages are going to be released as online updates anyway.
It may be that there will be some bug fixes added yet, though…

this problem occurs in audacious 3.3.4 from packman only. if you install 3.4.2 from home:serg0 the interface is correctly loaded, but I can’t play any on-line radio (the http and mms plugins don’t work).

LE: the same by using home:RedDwarf repo

Thank you, I am going to try this.

I am not a fan of amarok, but i do sometimes use it for streams.

Maybe this fixes the not playing ape files any more too.

I am giving up on this gui problem for now.

I have been just been installing and removing and installing and removing audacious for over an hour.

At least now its working again, packman repo.

The other repo give me missing plugin messages or audacious just wont start.

I do like to mention, that with the serg0 repo the winamp gui looked right. but it did not play any files.

I might try again, but for now I am going to put some effort in my pulse audio Valve games issue.

Guys, audacious has no icon theme… The problem is Bug #336: [PATCH]: Fix skinned ui not being drawn properly with gtk-3 >= 3.9 - Audacious - Redmine and has been fixed in audacious-plugins 3.4.1. I updated my package to 3.4.2, solving the problem.

Also, http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1_aaclca.pls (HTTP) and mms://wmlive-acl.bbc.co.uk/wms/bbc_ami/radio1/radio1_bb_live_ep1_sl0?BBC-UID=c5e219b638a880a8d1763a34a14356a720b62f7850100261c2083014843db2c4&SSO2-UID= (MMS) work just fine here.

I’ve created a bug report with a request to update the package:
https://bugs.links2linux.org/browse/PM-96

which installation sources have you used?

I still have problems…

My own packages. To listen to MP3 radios naturally also audacious-plugins-extra.

thanks, it worked!

Hi, updated to the packages from your repo and it has fixed the skin issue but now it can’t play any mp3 files as it claims “no decoder found”. :open_mouth:
