I have recently installed the current version of OpenSUSE (11.4). After installation I have noticed that my wired NIC was not being detected. I have a ASRock P67 Pro3 SE motherboard with a Attansic (Atheros) wired gigabit LAN. When I go into Yast’s network settings under overview it says that the ethernet card is ‘not configured’. I have searched for many solutions, however, I haven’t been able to find one. Many of the posts that I have searched for went cold after the second post. When I run ifconfig it only kicks back ‘lo’. I checked the motherboard website and the drivers are only based for Windows. Would anyone have any suggestions?
Hey, I just recently put opensuse 11.3 (64bit) on my ASUS A53E… It has a AR8151 for gigabit lan and AR9285 for wireless. Seems that the wlan picks up the ath9k driver without issue, but I’ve also run into the issue of finding a driver for the lan.
Most of the threads I’ve come across mention having to build the driver from source. The latest source I’ve found is dated 2006, but has some issues building where it can’t find the autoconf.h file for the kernel.
Not sure if this helps any but I’ll reply back if I find out anything else.
