That is a firmware file, not a driver and is part of the package
“atmel-firmware”. Just install that package.

Sorry should have mentioned, linux n00b here, am a windows user and have been using linux for about a year now, always struggling lol.

Im using opensuse…i think its 8?

When I click on that link it goes to a page with a install button, firefox downloads a file, i open it with yast and it says nothing to install?

Thanks

Its not 8 its 10.3, oops.

Points off for withholding information. The solutions that caf4926 and
I gave were for 11.1.

The firmware file you need can be found at
http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/atmel/. Download the compressed tar file,
decompress and unpack it, and copy the subject file to /lib/firmware.

Note that wifi was extremely primitive in 10.3. You should be
considering an upgrade, particularly as 10.3 will stop getting
security upgrades in a couple of months.

Oh ok, will the latest version run ok with what im using? I picked 10.3 because someone said it runs better on older machines, im using a hp compaq tc1000.

From what I just found with Google, that tc1000 is a bit underpowered;
however, it should work fine with 11.1 as long as you use one of the
light-weight desktops. I don’t know how much memory you have, but KDE
is likely to be very slow. I would suggest XFCE as a viable alternative.

If you have a wired network connection, you might try a NET install.
That will let you pick XFCE as the desktop. Installation from the Live
CD will not. If no wired connection, then use the DVD.
