I recently upgraded my Desktop to 12.2/KDE 4.9
Something has broken atiupgrade.
It worked well with openSUSE12.1, but I have not upgraded Catalyst since 12.3 so this issue may have been introduced with the recent changes to atiupgrade(due to changes by ATI in legacy coverage)
I successfully downloaded and installed “the hard way” amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10, which builds an rpm for Catalyst 9.002, so flgrx is working fine.
amdcccle reports HD 6550D Graphics
From below, it appears that atiupgrade gets the same string.
Note that this is the integrated graphics in an AMD-APU.
atiupgrade is up to date.

I am in no panic - fglrx is working fine.
atiupgrade has made me lazy; this was probably a good refresher on doing it “the hard way” ;)and a reminder to thank PTA again for making this so easy.
I do note that “sysinfo:/” (a.k.a. “My Computer” on desktop) reports this under Display info:
Display Info
Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc
Model:
2D driver: fglrx
3D driver: ATI
I don’t recall if the Model: displayed correctly here under openSUSE12.1 or not.
