ATI X1950GT SuSE 11.1 - No X-Server

Hello,

got some Problem during installing SuSE 11.1. SaX2 wasn’t able to create any running X-Server!

All following do as root!

I downloaded Driver with:
wget https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/64bit/ati-driver-installer-8-12-x86.x86_64.run

After that I installed the Driver with “sh ati-driver-installer-8-12-x86.x86_64.run” from current directory.
(There is an faster way by doing:
sh ati*.run --buildpkg SuSE/SUSE<Version>-AMD64
vgl. ATI-Treiber unter openSUSE installieren - openSUSE)

Reboot

A X-Server was running, but not to configure by Yast because no xorg.conf to find!

Running again “sh ati-driver-installer-8-12-x86.x86_64.run” in shell (from directory where downloaded) as Root. But now let the ati-driver-installer build a specific rpm package. Make sure that all requestet Packages are installed.

Then I did like given in here:

Please help… ATI Driver problems! - openSUSE Forums

After this my Graphik ist working including 3D acceleration

But: There is an other Bug. From time to time my screen gets sudden off.
Do sombody know what I can do.

Edit your power settings so that the display doesn’t turn itself off when it’s not being used?
