I am using openSUSE 11.0 and a Radeon 9500 pro. This card has been dropped to legacy status, but the drivers for 11.0 still exist in the repos for it with the latest version being 9.3.
or this one at google using:
linux ati “Bad file descriptor”
either search returns proof of the same answer to your question:
Q: Is anybody else having trouble with the ATI repository?
A: Yes.
i suspect you now have another question…
like “How do I fix it?” which can also probably be answered by
looking at the results of the previous searches…but, to save reading
time you might wanna add to the string something like:
solved OR solution OR fixed OR “it works” OR Thanks OR “Thank you”
btw, keep this search & read thing a secret…just between you and me,
otherwise the traffic here might decrease to near nothing…ok?

i wasn’t trying to be rude…i gave the best answer i could some two
hours after the initial question…and, here it is four days later
and not a peep from anyone else with any ideas at all…so, if you
wanna consider me rude for trying to help the guy find the answer
elsewhere then fine…sorry i tried…
but i’ll try ONE more time, here are about 2000 places to look if
someone here, who has faced it, and solved it doesn’t speak up fast
enough for you:
