ATI Mobility Radeon 4200 in my notebook

Is this supported yet? I remember when 11.3 first came out it was an issue. Are the fglrx drivers good now? Any links to instructions? Install tonight! :D:D

When I type “man radeon” or “man radeonhd” I do not see the HD4200 listed. My recommendation is you do a VESA install.

I note the from the ATI Catalyst proprietary graphic driver (fglrx) version 10.10 that the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4200 is supported. So after running with the VESA graphic driver you will want (I believe) to load the proprietary graphic driver.

Do you know how to do that ?

I’m a long time removed from openSUSE, but I remember finding the solution in SAX2 back in the day. I’ll start my search there. Thanks!

sax2 was depreciated some time back and no longer included with openSUSE.

Novell/SuSE-GmbH noted there had been too many changes in the ‘graphics world’ and they could not keep up, with there being too much breakage in sax2. They asked the openSUSE community to step forward and help/take over the maintenance, but no one did, so the package was dropped.

My laptop, HP 625, is working fine with this graphics card. Setup details below. Drivers down loaded and installed via Yast from the http://www2.ati.com/suse/11.3 repository.
