ATI 4770 drivers issue

Hello I’m a new user to suse, I’m currently taking an intro to Linux class at my school, and we are using suse.
Rather than run it on a a virtual machine i decided to install it.

I had everything working fine however i notice that my graphics drivers appeared as unknown and some eye candy stuff wasn’t working so i installed the drivers for my card and restarted X. when i did that all the font was SUPER small and the desktop was lagging.

I rly dunno what to do since i cant rely see a thing.

Im using suse 11.2

after reading the manual i was a bit worried since it said that the driver for my card was untested, but after i restated it worked liked a charm!
