Ati 2600xt

Ok, I’ve had the most luck with this card in opensuse 11.0 … the xconfig and sax2 both say the driver is in use, yet 3d acceleration is still not working. Any ideas? I’ve tryed the one click install, i’ve also installed through zypper… I have not tryed installing manually yet.

What do you get when you run fglrxinfo in the terminal? ATI should be listed as Open GL provider. If it’s Mesa, you’re not switched over to the ATI driver.

My suggestion would be to type su in the terminal, enter root password and enter this command:

init 3

log in as root and then enter

sax2 -r

When sax2 starts and you look at your settings 3D acceleration should be activated, provided you have the correct ATI driver installed, which is appropriate for your card as well as your kernel version. Have you updated your kernel recently? This can cause these sorts of problems.

After you exit sax2 enter the command:

reboot
