Atheros Wireless Issues 11.1

Hi,

I am having problems with my wireless on 11.1. I followed " My wireless doesn’t work - a primer on what I should do next" and this is what I got.

Any help would be appreciated…

/sbin/lspci

dmesg | less

/usr/sbin/iwconfig

I looked further into dmesg and found the following…

Are you expecting 802.11a?

Larry

My wireless router is 802.11g & 802.11b

Those are both in the 2.4 GHz range - why is your system trying to set channels
at 5 GHz?

Larry

:\ I have no idea. The only thing I have done is try to set the connection up in Network Manager… It has ref to a in the name AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter but also b + g.

May be I will just do back to madwifi at least it worked (besides the 5 or so dropouts every hour:( ).

Have you look at this article Atheros madwifi - openSUSE?

Extremely useful.
I’ve got the same Atheros AR5007 pci card.
And it helped me a lot.

Another one advice - do not use KNetworkManager.
Use KInternet instead.

With KNetworkManager I can see disconnections every few minutes.

KInternet works seamlessly.

Thanks Bolick

It seems I cant use madwifi atm for 11.1 i cant find madwifi-kmp-default everything on the wikis point to something that dose not exist. I found one at Software.openSUSE.org but it dose not match my kernel number.
